Share Lunch Fight Hunger 2021

City Harvest

We’re incredibly proud to support the impactful work City Harvest does every day to help feed New York City families in need.

School closings and changes in employment and poverty levels continue to put a significant strain on families. Nearly 1.6 million New Yorkers are now expected to experience food insecurity—a 44% increase since the pandemic began. Additionally, 1 in 3 children now don’t always know where their next meal will come from—a staggering 64% increase over pre-COVID-19 figures.

However, the hunger crisis does not affect our communities equally. Racial disparities in food insecurity that existed in communities of color before the pandemic have only been exacerbated. According to a recent study performed by Feeding America, 21% of Black individuals may experience food insecurity in 2021 compared to 11% of White individuals.

To help our communities in need, City Harvest has been working tirelessly to double the amount of food they plan to rescue and deliver, free of charge, this fiscal year to 144 million pounds. They need support from partners like Citi to do it.

That’s why we’re once again supporting the Share Lunch Fight Hunger campaign with an aim of raising $200,000 to aid their incredible work. Like last year, our entire fundraising campaign will be virtual. We will rely heavily on direct donations. If you are able, we hope you will consider contributing to this important cause. No donation amount is too small—even a $15 contribution helps feed 41 children for a day.

In lieu of in-person events, we are again running a special employee sweepstakes. Employees making a donation of $50 or more to City Harvest’s Share Lunch Fight Hunger campaign at http://www.cityharvest.org/citi through May 31, 2021 will be automatically entered for a chance to win special sweepstakes prizes. Winners will be selected in a random drawing.

We have 51 total potential prizes. For Mets fans and the Mets fans in your life, you have the chance to win:

  • A Mets baseball cap ($50-$74 donation)
  • A never-before publicly released Pete Alonso bobblehead ($75-$99 donation)
  • Virtual “cameos” from Mr. Met and Mets alumni or a Pete Alonso autographed baseball ($100-$149 donation)

And, for a donation of $150 or more, culinary enthusiasts will have the opportunity to win a place at a private virtual olive oil tasting with Citi Hospitality.

We are proud of City Harvest and our role in supporting the work they do for the New York community. We thank you for your generous contributions.
