Hanna's NYC marathon fundraiser
This year will be my 2nd time running the NYC marathon. Last year I ran with the American Cancer Society and was able to raise nearly $1,500. I think that this race is a great opportunity to raise awareness and give back to a community that I have called home for 2 years now – so I’ve decided to take action by fundraising for City Harvest.
City Harvest is New York City’s largest food rescue organization, helping to feed nearly 1.2 million New Yorkers. This year, they will rescue 64 million pounds of food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it, free of charge, to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community partners across the five boroughs.
My goal is to raise $500 and every $100 donated will help feed nearly 400 New Yorkers for a day. Any amount helps reach my goal - thank you so much!
**EDIT: With the help of all of you I far surpassed my intial goal of $500. THANK YOU SO MUCH! New goal is $3000, and hoping to help as many New Yorkers as possible to get a decent meal on the table this upcoming holiday season.
