Hanna's NYC marathon fundraiser
Last year I ran the NYC marathon with the DetermiNation team in an effort to raise money for the American Cancer Society and with the help and support of all of you, I was able to raise almost $2000 for a great cause.
Although I am running solo in the NYC marathon this year, I think that this is a great opportunity to raise awareness and give back to the community that I have called my home for the past two years.
With the help of all of you, I am hoping to fundraise for City Harvest, New York City’s largest food rescue organization, helping to feed the nearly 1.2 million New Yorkers who are struggling to put meals on their tables. They will rescue 64 million pounds of food this year and deliver it, free of charge, to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community partners across the five boroughs. Their programs empower individuals through nutrition education, increase our partners’ capacity, and strengthen the local food system, helping New Yorkers who are experiencing food insecurity to access, afford, and consume nutritious food.
