City Harvest is New York City’s largest food rescue organization, helping to feed the nearly 1.5 million New Yorkers who are struggling to put meals on their tables. As our city continues to grapple with the devastating economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of New Yorkers relying on City Harvest has skyrocketed, and thousands of our neighbors are turning to food pantries and soup kitchens for the first time. Since the beginning of the crisis, City Harvest has rescued and delivered, for free, more than 72 million pounds of food—an increase of 63% over the same period last year. As we look toward the uncertain months ahead, City Harvest is committed to nearly doubling our operations—rescuing and delivering 109 million pounds of nutritious food to help feed our neighbors by July 2021, a 70 percent increase over the prior year’s projections
