City Harvest is New York City’s largest food rescue organization, providing free, nutritious food to New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity. Weeks into the government shutdown, we have begun to see its effects on our neighbors. If the shutdown continues into November, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits could be disrupted for the 1.8 million New Yorkers who depend on this critical program.
We can and must do more. Every $1 donated helps us provide food for 2 New Yorkers for a day. Your generosity will enable us to provide more free food to our neighbors who are depending on us today and the many more who will count on us in the months ahead.
